Hiring across the UK showed only a slight slowdown at the end of Q1, according to the latest KPMG and REC Report on Jobs. Permanent placements dipped marginally for a second month, while temp billings also edged down. Demand for staff remained soft but stabilised, with vacancies falling at the slowest rate since last May. At the same time, a surge in candidate availability and weaker demand kept pay growth subdued.
