Seeing a team member grow, push their boundaries, and achieve their goals is one of the most rewarding parts of what we do. Today, we are absolutely thrilled to celebrate Monika from our payroll team, who recently passed her HR apprenticeship with Total People!
Balancing a busy day job with professional qualifications is no small feat. We sat down with Monika to chat about her journey, how she managed the workload, and what advice she has for anyone else thinking about taking the leap.
Finding the Right Balance
Stepping into an apprenticeship means juggling deadlines, studying and day-to-day work responsibilities. For Monika, the journey required a lot of dedication, but the destination made it all worthwhile.
“There were definitely times when it felt challenging, but staying organised and having support made a big difference,” Monika shares. “It was a busy period, but it was worth the effort.”
That hard work officially paid off when the final results came in. “I was really pleased and relieved when I found out I had passed,” she says. “I celebrated with family and friends and took some time to appreciate the hard work that had gone into achieving it.”
A Fresh Perspective
An apprenticeship isn’t just about gaining a certificate; it’s about expanding your horizons. By bridging her payroll expertise with a deeper understanding of Human Resources, Monika has unlocked a whole new toolkit that benefits both her personal growth and the wider Mach team.
“The apprenticeship has given me a much better understanding of HR and the wider business,” Monika explains. “I feel more confident in my role and can approach situations with a broader perspective.”
Supported Every Step of the Way
Monika notes that having the right environment was crucial to her crossing the finish line.
“Mach has been really supportive throughout the whole process. I was given the time, encouragement and flexibility I needed to balance my studies alongside my day-to-day responsibilities.”
Of course, a little extra encouragement from the team goes a long way. Monika wanted to share a massive, well-deserved shout-out to three key people who stood by her throughout her studies: Ester Baranyai, Head of Payroll at Mach, Katie Barrett, HR Director at Mach, and Brankica Evans, Learning Coach at Total People. Thank you all for being such a brilliant support system!
Some Advice? Just Go For It
For anyone else on the fence about starting their own learning journey, Monika has some words of wisdom:
“I’d definitely encourage them to go for it. It’s a fantastic way to learn, develop new skills, and gain a qualification while continuing to work. It can be challenging at times, but the rewards are well worth it.”
Huge congratulations again, Monika! We are incredibly proud of your achievement and can’t wait to see you continue to thrive in your role.
