The latest KPMG and REC UK Report on Jobs shows that hiring conditions improved slightly in January 2026. Recruiters reported a fresh rise in temporary billings. However, the growth in candidate availability slowed, still strong overall, but the weakest in a year. At the same time, both starting salaries and temporary wages climbed more quickly as employers faced stronger competition for skilled talent.
